| The actors we use for our non-scripted theatre input are experienced improvisers who used to work in business before they trained as actors. Many also work as facilitators and are accredited trainers or coaches.
Two examples of the many ways our business improvisers help embed learning are Stop start theatre and 1 to 1 practice.
Stop Start Theatre is a very interactive yet comfortable learning process for the delegate. It starts with the delegates watching a scenario where two or three characters interact in a less than desirable way. The scenario brings to life challenges that the delegates are frequently faced with and is based on our research and discussions with the client. Delegates instantly associate with it!
The delegates then stop and start the scenario until they are happy with the change in behaviours they have provoked. They literally say ‘stop’ every time they think a character in the scene should do or say something differently and tell the character what to do instead.

The delegates learn by discovering in detail what works and what doesn’t. Stop start theatre can be used to practice a particular model or skills set. It can also be used as a method to agree on guidelines for best practice.
1 to 1 practice in break out rooms is an opportunity for delegates to practice handling a challenging conversation that they expect to have with someone in the near future. Constructive and targeted feedback from our actor coach will help the delegate hone their skills and confidence to handle the conversation upon their return to their workplace. These sessions are a great opportunity for a delegate to get feedback on his or her own personal working style.
Do you have a challenging crucial conversation coming up? Would you benefit from practicing it with an objective professional who can give you constructive feedback and direction? We can send you an experienced actor coach to help you prepare.
